5th Grade Overview

February 17-20

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Parent Tybee Island Meeting: This meeting will occur at the end of February or early March. This meeting will answer all your questions and you will leave with a packing list. We will keep you informed once the date is set.

F&F: We will continue in the Plot unit. Study sheets will be in binders this week. HOMEWORK IS BACK! Please ask your child daily if he/she has read the assignment, which will average out to be about every other night. Reading assignments should be logged into their agendas on a daily basis, as needed. Please review the process questions and vocabulary with your child throughout the unit.

English: In ELA, we will continue with verbs, finishing up progressive verb tenses, introducing perfect verb tense forms, and working with irregular verbs. In Writing, we will begin our book publishing unit.

Math: We have started Unit 5, reviewing multiplying fractions by fractions and whole numbers. Homework will be due Friday. 

Science/Social Studies: We finished up WWI and will spend the four days we get back on The Roaring Twenties. We will then prepare for a test over this unit that has taken us forever to complete!!

Spelling: Spelling list 11 and its activity sheet will be placed in binders after Winter Break. The activity sheet is due on Wednesday, February 25. Test 11 will be on Friday, February 27. 

Bible: We have just started the time of the Israelites passing into the Promised Land under the leadership of Joshua. We will continue this section of the Bible until King David for a while.
