Why A Preschool-5th Grade Education?

A common question parents ask when considering independent education is whether to choose a K–12 school or a PreK–5 school. At Brainerd Baptist School, we recognize that children learn in unique ways and benefit most from a program tailored to their individual needs, learning styles, and potential. Our elementary curriculum is carefully designed to support students’ academic, social, and spiritual growth, providing PreK–5th graders with opportunities to build joy, confidence, and a love of learning.

  • We are passionate about the education of young children. One key difference between an elementary school and a K–12 school is that our focus is 100% on the needs of young learners. Every aspect of our program (curriculum, schedules, instruction, and enrichment) is designed specifically to support the academic, emotional, and social growth of children in their formative years.

The preschool through 5th-grade years are critical for building a strong foundation for future success. Our environment allows students to develop leadership skills at the stage when they are most receptive, learning responsibility and teamwork through sports, drama, the arts, community service, and other experiences. At the same time, being part of a community that includes younger preschoolers helps them grow at an appropriate pace while also serving as role models for the younger students.

Our challenging academic curriculum encourages exploration of new subjects in a familiar and supportive environment. By the time students reach middle school, their strengths, learning styles, and interests have emerged, and our graduates consistently report feeling prepared and confident for the next stage of their education. We also work closely with the schools our students transition to, ensuring a smooth and successful move to the next phase of learning.

For these reasons, I know this is the school for us.”

What uniquely captured our hearts at Brainerd Baptist was: research-based decisions in every element of an education; a Christian worldview in every discipline; a skilled staff who respects and loves their students; a smart approach to technology (integrating it when it makes sense instead of adding it on as an afterthought); a small, elementary-only environment.”

    • “We have heard great things from friends and colleagues about Brainerd Baptist. We have been very impressed with the structure and teacher to student ratio even at the young pre-K ages. The school has an outstanding reputation for preparing students for some of the best high schools in our area. We also live very close to the school which is a nice bonus.”
